15 Years of Traction
By Adam Kleinberg
Last week, Traction celebrated 15 years of history. When we started the agency in 2001, we were very humble in our ambitions.
We were full of what we described as "blind fury," an unwavering belief that we could handle whatever challenge came our way.
But, we never anticipated that a decade and a half later that conviction would translate into an agency working with some of the absolute greatest brands in the world—big and small—helping them solve huge problems, launch products, reshape customer journeys, and deepen relationships with their customers.
And, we never anticipated that we'd be recognized an industry publication as one of the very best in the country at what we do—let alone several publications, repeatedly, for years on end.
We did realize, however, that wherever the Traction journey would take us it would involve a team of great, talented people doing work they were proud of—and having a great time doing it.
The rest just fell in place.
Which is why it was so awesome to celebrate "disTraction 15: evolved," our 15th anniversary celebration, last Thursday night. We've thrown a lot of great parties in our time, but nothing was quite as epic as this. Hundreds of people showed up to help celebrate our success—and it was their success as well—because in my mind, Traction has always been more than just the amazing people who work within our walls. It is the sum of all the people—the team, the clients, the partners, the families, the friends, and the fans, who have believed in us and rooted for us over the past decade and a half. And last week, that community came out to play. Hard.
For everyone who made it—and everyone who couldn't—enjoy the photos. Here's to the next 15 years!

It's no secret that advertising is getting harder. There's been an explosion in the number of touch points, and the cost and complexity of achieving scale has ballooned accordingly.
